Rock Restoration

seeking love LP
I know how much graffiti artists hate dollhouses.
I can certainly appreciate these new acts that are firmly rooted in their efforts to bring back simple and stupendous rock tunes.  Last year it was Free Energy for me, and thanks to yvynyl I may have a new artist to check out - Bare Wires (myspace)

Track 2 Ready To Go by Robot Elephant Records

I saw this character Bosco Delrey at the Mad Decent Block Party last year and saw what kind of stage presence he's got.  Look out for this dude this year.  Here is the original and remix of a song off of his upcoming EP release 'Evil Lives/Wild One'

Another type of revival music is the 50's & early 60's rock pop that is coming out in surf rock, garage rock, Grease-era stuff, etc.  Went to see the Philly Stop of the Best Coast/Wavves tour last night at Starlight Ballroom.  Pretty good schtick having the alt/indie power couple of the day tour together.  I thought the opener No Joy had real promise and I thought Wavves was the big winner.  He played a new track that I thought was tits, and Idiot and Green Eyes sound kick ass live.  I tried to get into Best Coast, but she lost me three songs in when she basically just hummed a melody on loop the entire song.  I can enjoy her on occasion, but live is not that occasion.  I'd throw up a video of her band making their debut on Letterman last night, but every other effing blog beat me to it.  I think I had a bias going in though after reading this article on Make Major Moves, he was totally right though.

10 pounds of music in a 500 word blog post...

Some random things I ran across today that I think are pretty sweet.  Have a backlog of links, new songs, etc that I'm gonna get out later this week as well.  Let's do the damned thing:

Black Keys played SNL over the weekend and were impressive.  Dan looks creepy without a beard.  Everyone will be even more so all over them this year, and this cements it.  Enjoy both (via SKOA):

5 Radtastic Videos

Seeing as how there is a rediculous flood happening outside right now, what better way to waste time then to watch music videos.  Enjoy that while I kayak down 95 back to the city!

Flying Lotus, who kicks the asses of all blips and noises that get in his way, has released the first video for MmmHmm off his new Cosmogramma album. (via okayplayer)

The brains behind the beats/production from TV on the Radio Dave Sitek has a solo album under the name Maximum Balloon coming out in late August with guest spots galore (see pitchfork stuffs).  Here is a video for the first single off that album.

The Music Slut (why couldn't I come up with a clever blog name like that?) threw up a video of We Are Scientists who performed live for NME.  So jealous of that site name. Srsly.

Another of my enjoyments du jour is Maps & Atlases, who are coming to Philly on 8/14 at Kung Fu Necktie (See you bitches there!).  They worked with Yours Tru.ly and a high school marching band to bring you this stupendous display:

Yourstru.ly Presents: Maps & Atlases from Yours Truly on Vimeo.

And finally, here is one that is freaking all over the intertubes today, Kid Cudi/Best Coast/Rostam from Vampire Weekend sold out to Converse and release a song called "All Summer".  They wear these silly big heads in the video, its like they are playing with Wii in real life.  Its good, and I kid about the selling out part.  Anytime i've been offered money for anything, I've done it without thinking.  I have no on switch on my morals. (Again thanks to Pitchfork)

Rock and/or Roll Mix Bag

In RainbowsRadiohead remixes their own "15 Step" with a great Dave Brubek song "Take Five" and indieshuffle tossed in a bonus remix of Pyramid Song.  I'll take it!

(P.S.: Note that Tame Impala is featured content, get on that.)

Fabriclive.29Cut Copy interviewed with Pitchfork about their new album, which comes out in January and how its bittersweet to be invited to tour with Lady Gaga.  Pros: Tour with stadiums of hot chicks and notoriety, Cons: all that is/associated with that media vacuum/attention whore.

Future BreedsI miss Hot Hot Heat.  I can distinctly remember taking the train back and forth to D.C. and bumping "Make Up the Breakdown" on every trip.  Check out Pitchfork's review of the new album.  I love it, and I'm happy they are back in my rotation.

Let the summer music wash over you.  This hazy, 60's AM, upbeat sound continues to completely dominate my playlist.

Less hazy and more garage-y (?), digging this new Black Lips track from the Adult Swim weekly giveaway

Found this guy via twitter and I can't resist music that builds up like this, give it a whirl:

Bonnaroo has just closed up and before the weekend started, RCRD LBL put up a playlist of a group of the artists that are performing.  Totally worth a listen:

Last but not least, well everything up to now has been gold so maybe least.  Another crazy video from OK Go.  I feel like these guys spend more time figuring out their music videos then they spend on the actual music.  Either way, they've got a niche and people love the videos, check it out after the jump(via Vulture):
